Great advice for all kinds of relationships

This is a very well written, thoughtful, and entertaining book. It offers a great deal of solid, down to earth advice, clearly exemplified by stories drawn from the author’s and others’ actual experience. The author avoids the platitudes that run through many self-help books. The writing style is very engaging and makes this an easy read; kind of like listening to a wise, entertaining friend.
The ideas presented reveal a great deal of self-reflection, and I recognized my own behavior patterns in many of the stories. The advice provided was insightful, non-obvious, and grounded in common sense. Most appreciated was that much of what I learned could be applied to other kinds of relationships and to other aspects of life.

Jim McCoy offers real life, entertaining, and relatable dating stories of his own and of individuals whom he has spent years coaching and interviewing in his book “The Last Place You Look.” The struggles, the road blocks, the heartbreak, the triumphs, the lessons learned, and how these lessons can be used to help the reader find success in dating are at the center of this book. Jim speaks in an honest and upfront manner when offering dating advice, which is refreshing in an area of life that we tend to make more complicated for ourselves. Jim presents a positive and hopeful outlook that gives the reader the opportunity to self evaluate and put his/her best dating foot forward. He focuses on assessing what the individual wants and how to find it in a way that gives the reader confidence that the dating world is truly not doom and gloom. Jim’s writing is thoughtful, heart felt, and has an appreciated sense of humor. For anyone who is looking for that special person, I would highly recommend this book.
