Great Story Teller

Congratulations to the author. This story is one hot tale. I have been reading erotic literature since I discovered it in my father's dresser I was 13 at the time. From that beginning I continued my search. I found stories in Japan and China ...written in English. There wasn't a country in Europe that I visited that didn't have erotic literature in English. As I am still reading Book Two, I will finish this review when I finish the book,

The title says it all

Buddhism for Everyday Life by Reverend Nikkyo Niwano is a wonderful book filled with nuggets of wisdom from a life of Buddhist practice. Written as a delightful series of short essays, it is easy to pick up the book and quickly find a little inspiration during your day. Transience, non-self, emptiness, attachment, delusion, they are all in there but presented with a series of stories and parables that connect them to the world around us. The story of a businessman struggling with failure finding the words of the Zen Master "born naked into this world, what can we possibly lack?" Or discussing our interconnectedness with all things "...take the clothing we wear. A woolen garment owes its existence to the people who tended and sheared the sheep, wove the cloth, transported the fabric, and sewed the garment...One might even say that the whole universe has been woven into the garment." This book does not belong on a bookshelf, it needs to be sitting beside your bed where it draws you every day into a new reflection upon the path.

Buddhism for Everyday Life

Once you have this book in hand, and before you start reading, go get your highlighter. You are about to be escorted skillfully and mindfully along a noble path of wisdom. It's not just a book, it's more a comprehensive manual about living life and living rightly.

Buddhism for Everyday Life was written by Nikkyo Niwano (1906 -- 1999), founder of Rissho Kosei-kai, and president until 1991. Like a kindly grandfather set sets us upon his knee and tells us things we need to know, Niwano pours into our heads and hearts, with this book, a lifetime gleaning of wisdom.

This book delivers what the title implies, with emphasis on "every day." As Gene Reeves stated in the Foreword, "In it you will find no heavy-going philosophical discussion or extensive explanations of difficult Buddhist teachings." What you will find, however, is an easy-to-read book that covers everything from parenting, business operations, interpersonal relationships, and life's deep questions, all framed within the principles of Buddhism.

There are two groups of people that should read this book. The first group is young people starting out in life, or thinking about it. The second group consists of all the rest of us. Just when we think we are individuals who can take care of ourselves, Niwano reminds us of our interdependence with others. "Once we acknowledge that our lives are intimately related to innumerable other existences," he writes, "it becomes impossible to insist that we can live on our own."

Highlight this, for it is a recurring theme throughout the book. It is the forerunner of another important principle: gratitude. Once we've managed to wrap our heads around the idea of interdependence, gratitude naturally follows. "Gratitude," he writes, "wells up with us when we become aware of how much we are supported by those around us."

Using not only Buddhism as a pole star, Niwano also involkes teachings from Christianity and other great religions of the world to illustrate his points. Examples include several quotations from Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Then there's the old Jewish adage of blaming the stone we trip over. Niwano has no problem with citing other saccred scriptures, and he says, "A truth of one religion that cannot be accepted by another religon is not a universal truth."

The grand finale, the ultimate truth included in the book, is found appropriately enough near the end. Niwano shares the answer for those of us who have walked many crooked miles, tripped over many stones, and taken countless wrong forks in the road while asking the question "Who am I?" He gently reminds us of a core teaching of Buddhism: "Life is the opportunity we are given to awaken the buddha-nature within us."

Highlight this, too. It's huge. It's why we're here.

Great Book

If you are hung up on a guy that treated you like crap....you MUST read this book. This one and her other book: "Mr. Unavailable and the Fallback Girl." These two books helped pull me out of my funk and made me realize that my ex boyfriend's poor treatment was HIS problem, NOT mine. I had just ALLOWED it to go on for too long. I broke contact (not my usual course of action) and he didn't know what to do. The longer I ignored him the more I realized that he was really a butt-head (keeping name clean for Amazon) and I couldn't understand WHY I was so hung up on him in the first place, or WHAT I honestly saw in him to begin with. I learned to never ignore those inner "red flags" that we all get. Trust your gut, do not accept HOT/COLD treatment, poor treatment or poor behavior from a man that "talks, talks and talks" a big relationship game but whose actions show he is still a toddler potty training emotionally. It's not your job to "fix" him. Go be that awesome, independent woman that your are, sister!

Best book on moving on I have ever found

This book is great. I have read several books on moving on after a hard breakup and they are hardly helpful. This book goes into depth about certain types of partners that keep sending mixed signals after a breakup. Natalie unwinds this ball of yarn and makes sense out of these types of people. It is an important book as these people that play games and send numerous contradictory messages after a breakup are usually toxic and can wreak a lot of pain and suffering. As a therapist, I have been dealing with ugly breakups and even uglier temporary reconciliations and have seen first hand the pain that this causes for the person being left behind. As they hope against hope that it will work out and they can get back together with this person, again they get humiliated and mistreated time and again. Natalie does an extraordinary job of "de-coding" this type of person and relationship and gives practical advice on what needs to be done to put this behind you. I routinely assign this book as homework to clients that have been in ongoing dysfunctional relationships, usually with one of the partners being married to someone else or having multiple relationships. Natalie is a great writer and although I have not read her other books, I can most highly recommend this one. It will stop the pain.

Awesome book!!!!

First off I'm a male and this book has been tremendous in helping me learn how define my boundaries with my ex-wife. So this is not just for women. IT's like she is in my head and knows what I am going through.

I bought the Kindle version and I riddled it with notes and highlights to go back and reference. When you really want to find help for yourself and move on, it's more than just reading a book and putting it down. She gave so much good advice about your own value and the behaviors that cause you not to let go, or movie on. It has helped me SO much in recognizing the reality of what I'm going through and accepting it. I absolutely LOVE this author and this book.

The No Contact rule is a must for setting boundaries and moving on. I'm in a minimal contact situation, and Mrs.Lue touches on that. You can still have limited contact but have healthy boundaries because after all it's about YOU and YOUR life and YOUR needs, not the other person. She even talks about the things you're ex's will do when you go NC and it's like she's peeking into a window of my life. Yep, that happened, yep, that happened...and Mrs. Lue is honest, and inspirational. She's not patting you on the head and saying you will be ok, she's like the coach saying get up! This is reality! Let's get into shape and I'll show you how to do it!

I can't say enough about this book if you are SERIOUS about putting in the work you need to do No Contact and get control back of your life. You want to be fit, eat right and exercises, you want to get healing and move on, then put the work in and do what you have to do, and Mr's Lue give's you those tools. I can't say enough how much this has helped me.

interesting read

I was looking for a book on networking and after reading both the positive and negative reviews, decided to go with this book. After finishing the book, I will say that I am surprised by it- in both a good and bad way. Let me explain...

The author has built his career in marketing. He has held the CEO position for a number of companies he's worked at. This book is more suited to those with the same professional background or those who have similar career aspirations. This is no regular book on networking but more like a book on power-networking. I do not have that kind of background or plan to have a career anywhere close to his or pursue a career in that field so some of his advice is not for me. Being an introvert, some of his advice I won't be able to easily do, too. (So if you are an introvert, you may need to get another book but this book does have some valuable pieces of advice).

After getting through almost half of the book, I did feel like a lot of the contents would not be applicable to me. I did keep an open mind and kept reading. I'm glad I did. In the second half of the book I did find a lot more that I could apply to or adapt to my own life. I think that's what's important to keep in mind when reading this book--think of how you can adapt his ideas into your own life. I am only at the entry-level in my professional career but some of his advice like expanding your network via dinner parties and not keeping score when asking someone a favor or doing someone a favor are great pieces of advice that I can implement in my life.

Very Intriguing Insight

In Never Eat Alone: And Other Secrets to Success, One Relationship at a Time, Keith Ferrazzi teaches people how to build lifelong relationships that will bring them success and get them ahead in the world of business. This book is aimed toward college students and graduates who are looking to further, or maybe even start, a career in business. Besides writing this book, Ferrazzi gets his point across to people through lectures at colleges and grad schools. It is a valuable book because there are methods to learn in it that are not taught in a standard classroom. His book is divided into four main sections each aimed toward teaching the reader different skill sets: The Mind-Set, The Skill Set, Turning Connections into Compatriots, and Trading Up and Giving Back. Ferrazzi supports all of his arguments very well by using real life examples from his own experience and by adding stories about famous people at the end of some of the chapters to further confirm his advice.
In the Mind-Set portion of his book he teaches readers how to become a member of the “club” and then he discusses his “Networking Action Plan”: a way to write down and accomplish specific goals. Ferrazzi did a good job of relating to the average person by telling his back story. He grew up in a working class family and first observed the higher classes while he was a caddy at a country club. He connected with the common people reading his book. Ironically enough, this is a book about connecting with people which he is so clearly good at. Ferrazzi’s explanation of his observations during this time is very descriptive, showing the readers what they should be doing. His discussion of his “Networking Action Plan” was also very helpful as well. He outlines a specific way to write your plan in order to make it simple to connect and succeed. Ferrazzi is clear and concise and does not leave the reader with any questions about what to do.
The Skill-Set section mainly discusses how to connect with people, what to do when connected, and how to follow-up. According to Ferrazzi, the key to success in anything is to follow-up, an action that many people may overlook without Ferrazzi’s information. Ferrazzi has tons of contacts in his network that he would not have known without following up. They range from John Pepper, a CEO that Ferrazzi had researched and found out he had also gone to Yale and had known a mutual friend, to Arnold Palmer, the well known golfer. Ferrazzi doesn’t just say to make connections with people; he is incredibly helpful and specifically lists people that can be connectors: relatives, current colleagues, neighbors, people in your religious congregation, and many more.
Turning Connections into Compatriots is about what to do when following-up with people results in them being in your network. Ferrazzi talks a great deal about dinner parties and their importance to him. He lists number of guests to invite, where they should be seated, and how to have a beautiful setting. Ferrazzi gives tips on how to host the best dinner party and to gain the friendship, and hopefully business, of everyone invited.
In the final section, Trading Up and Giving Back, Ferrazzi explains the importance of being interesting and memorable. He teaches readers to build their brand by one of his sayings: “be distinct or extinct” (226). Basically, Ferrazzi says there are tons of people in the world who want to become CEO’s and in order to succeed, you need to be different. As the title of his book says, never eat alone. Be out of the ordinary and persistent in connecting to the people you need to, and want to, connect to.
Ferrazzi is a credible and resourceful source for any person looking to expand their network. He provides insight into how to get this done and his life is proof that it is possible. He is very successful with these methods. Ferrazzi was CMO at Deloitte Consulting and CEO at YaYa Media and he is now founder and CEO of Ferrazzi Greenlight. The network of people that he has connected to, span across the country and they are the reason for his success. Without other peoples help, we are nothing. This book is very engaging and enjoyable, I personally found myself losing track of time reading it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to expand their network or even anyone remotely interested in the unknown aspects of the business world.

This Should Be a Networking Bible

A friend recommended this book for her book club. I've never been good at networking and figured why not learn as much as I could. This book was perfect for the "beginner" networker who has no idea where to start. Several of Keith's points resonated with me.

Point one: help other people! There's an old expression I've heard that you should be good to the people on your way to the top because they're the same people you'll pass on your way back down. Truer words have never been spoken. I've learned the hard way that when it comes to getting a job or a client, it has nothing to do with what you know but WHO you know. Keith's book addresses that issue. He points out that you should help other people in any way you can even if there's nothing in it for you. If you have two friends who could use each other's help, introduce them to each other. If an acquaintance approaches you and asks if you know of anyone hiring, call up your contacts and see how you can be of help. Yes, you may not know that person well but think about what happens if they get the job. They in turn may be able to help you influence a potential client. It's all about paying it forward with significant dividends.

Point two: remember people's birthday! Yes, it might sound juvenile but believe it or not, people actually DO care that you remembered their birthday. It touches their soul more than they care to admit. Keith recommended that when you meet someone ask them for their birth month and day (no year necessary). Technology makes it so simple for you to keep track and actually pops up a reminder on that day. You don't necessarily need to buy flowers or anything expensive, a simple card in the mail, email or phone call will do wonders.

Point three: timing is everything! After one of Keith's speaking engagements, several people approached him to say thank you or what not. When he got back to his hotel room an email was already waiting for him. It was from one of the guys who had approached him after his speech. Keith pointed out that plenty of thoughtful emails had streamed through his inbox over the next couple of days, but he remembers the very first one he received.

Those three are only the tip of the iceberg in what is covered in Keith's book. Again, it's honest advice that you can apply tomorrow for use in the real world. You don't have to be rich or influential in order to benefit from Keith's advice, you just have to want to be personable. GET THIS BOOK!!!!

exceptional!

FINALLY, a book that explains the details of Revelation in a practical straightforward way. This book was insightful and so very helpful. I would strongly recomend it to any who are interested in What the Book of Revelation meant for the church in our history, AND for the church today.

Lots of bad assumptions

The book that I read was the updated version of this book (Revelation Revealed)

This book strays (severely) from the view that the book of Revelation is a book of things to come, to being a book fulfilled in the days of Rome.

He makes some really bad assumptions, and expects the reader to accept them as fact, and then bases the rest if the book on these bad assumptions.

I managed to choke down the first half of the book, but that is all I could take.

If only the words matched the actions - Gordon Ferguson is not a who he claims to be, but rather a racist who has recently said that "blacks should not be in (church) leadership". And has taken steps to remove Godly leaders from service in Houston because the were not white.

many typos and sloppy explanations

I taught an undergraduate course on complex analysis using this book several years ago. My choice of the book was partly based on the authors' outstanding reputations as good researchers. The authors make good choices of topics and they are experts in the subject. A casual perusing of this book might leave you impressed, but if you carefully work through the details of this book you will find numerous typographical errors and many explanations are sloppy. The proof of the Cauchy-Goursat Theorem is simply wrong. One of the proofs of a major theorem about Taylor series contained circular reasoning. I found it necessary to provide the students with my own typed lecture notes to replace various section of the book with explanations that weren't so sloppy. If you are looking for a good textbook at the undergraduate level, I recommend finding another book that was more carefully written.

A very good text!
The best description of this book is that it provides a comprehensive, classical treatment of the subject with a modern touch and serves ideally the needs of anyone studying Complex Analysis.
Starting from the foundations of defining a complex number, through to applications in the evaluation of integrals, the WKB method, Fourier transforms and Riemann-Hilbert problems, the book covers a lot of ground in an easy to follow style. The chapters are long, but logically broken down into digestible sections and interspersed with well illustrated diagrams, numerous worked examples and exercises. The end of chapter exercises provide further opportunity for reinforcing the methods and there's a useful section at the end giving brief hints and answers to selected problems.
Complex Variable analysis is treated from the definition of an analytic function and its relation to the Cauchy-Riemann equations, and in turn their application to an ideal fluid flow. The ideas of multi-valued functions, complex integration, and Cauchy's theorem are excellently treated, as are the consequences: the generalised Cauchy integral formula, the Max-Mod principle, and Liouiville and Morera's theorems.
The rest of the first part of this book, which is essentially pure mathematics, deals with Laurent series, singularities, analytic continuation, the Mittag-Leffler theorem, the ALL IMPORTANT Cauchy Residue Theorem, dealing with branch points, Rouche's theorem, and their application to Fourier transforms.

Yes it's yet another collection of cliffhangers but....

While this is yet another collection of cliffhangers it is different in several ways, firstly not all the books are free which is usually the case, not all of them are available elsewhere at least not at the moment anyway, for example I couldn't find 'The Unseen Warrior' and while there's the ever present Chrissy Peebles and M.J May some of the others were new to me.
This book also clearly states:
'Some stories have been previously published. Some stories are novellas and some are full length. ***All stories are part one’s to other series*** As a courtesy, the authors inform you there are some stories with cliffhangers. These are the first books or prequels to individual series.'
My advice is, while this is a great way to sample new authors just be aware of how long some this these series's are and how expensive they can be, I know I've been caught out in the past.

Interesting and unique story line. Great read for a teenage girl, or young woman, although I did enjoy it myself! If you're interested in the paranormal, I'm sure you'll definitely enjoy this book! I'm a pretty fast reader, so it seemed I was finished with this book in no time at all.
