This book is based on Williamson's discovery of A Course in Miracles , a self-help guide whose provenance she doesn't explain. Age 26 at the time and feeling lost and desperate after indulging in the excesses of the 1960s, the Jewish author had no real hope for inspiration from the course because of its Christian terminology. But, she writes in this guide to the guide, the program works "miracles" for herself and for others who adopt its principles. Her extrapolations may appeal to readers in need of spiritual sustenance, but one questions Williamson's advice to the gravely ill. When she encourages them, for example, to "write a letter to AIDS or cancer or whatever illness they might have, and tell it everything they feel"--even to fabricate "replies" from the disease--readers are likely to consider that a serious situation is trivialized. Some may find the theories and practices presented here somewhat off-putting (e.g., Williamson counsels people with AIDS to write letters to the disease, rather than use fear and hatred to fight it). A lesson in adjusting perception

I feared religion, feared succumbing to the opiate of the masses. The word "God" troubled me, even while I sought a deeper spirituality. Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit... I blindly closed my mind to anything in Christian terms. But I was fortunate enough to pick up this book at a time in my life when I was beginning to shed many of my judgements, and consider faith not by how others may abuse it or be shackled by it, but how it might empower me to find a deeper happiness. It all started with me re-stumbling upon a quote I read five years ago on how we feared not our inadequacy, but our strength. And it ended up with me finishing this book minutes ago and my mind screeching to a halt, "What? It's over? I need more!" Only the whole point of the book was telling me I don't need to read more, I just need to act on what resonated with me from the words so recently imbibed.

I rather doubt I'll ever consider myself Christian. But when you translate the concept of God from a bearded Old Testament crotchety and vengeful powerhouse to the raw and unadulterated purity of love... I don't need to read the Bible to find answers. When the idea of Jesus isn't so much the one and only Son of God, but a state of grace each and everyone of us can become through the shedding of fear... I can relate. When the word Christ is us used to speak to the fact that all of us are connected, rather than a fixation on crucifixion... I can open my mind a crack more. And the concept of the Holy Spirit as the guiding force that allows us to replace fear and its derivatives with love for ourselves and one another... alright, finally Christianity makes at least a lick of sense.

Does everything in these pages resonate to me? I'm not sure, but it doesn't need to. The whole point as there is no single right answer, beyond the fact that love is always the right answer. But going to church on Sunday, believing in Jesus, living a life of abstaining from all physical joys or looking upon others or ourselves with judgement and shame... not a prerequisite to finding wisdom in these pages. I would finish a chapter, and the whole world would seem to make more sense. Colors looked better, and I would sink into a feeling of peace is never felt before. The book calls my shift in perception a miracle. I don't think I'm capable of disagreeing on that point. As the author says, this is only the beginning, not the destination. I don't know if I'll read or undertake A Course in Miracles, but I do know that this companion, this interpretation, has changed my world for the better.

Make a change in your life simply by willing it to happen!

I had been in a dead end relationship for a good number of years. I wanted to keep it going but the other side of me wanted to just end the relationship. I hoped and prayed that one day the relationship would cease to exist. It was then that I came across the is wonderful book, A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of a Course in Miracles. I quickly took to it and thought that all these years I had the power all along to end the unhappiness that I had been experiencing. I was so relieved yet happy to know that the universe was not in charge of me changing but instead it was all in my hands to make the needed changes.

Soon after reading this book, I came along to the other book called Manifestation Magic: Attracting Abundant Wealth, Incredible Health, Great Relationships, and Limitless Success Into Your Life. This book was a lot more in detail about the various things that we are able to change and turn around in our lives. The biggest of these is that we actually have the power to reverse illness. This concept totally blew my mind and made me wonder what else I had been missing out on in life. The power is within all of us and after reading this book, I was quickly able to see ways that we are able to affect the course of our life on a regular basis.

While these books alone can give you a lot of insight, these two together help to unlock the whole mystery that is set in front of a person. Regardless of what the real secret is that unlocks all of the mysteries of life, you need to just know that the answer is a lot closer than you might expect it to be.

Great book for our times. How we can change our lives by loving ourselves and others who are here to learn and to experience this world just as we are. By trusting in a Higher Power that created and manages universes to create and manage a new improved life for us. By surrendering our manic control of which we have very little of anyway, and focusing (remembering) on what we really do have control over, our attention. Returning our attention to each other with consideration, compassion, understanding, (as we would want for ourselves) and most of all, with the most powerful and beautiful force that exists, Love.

Turkey by US Air Force

I was stationed in Turkey at Incirlik AB for 19 months in 1979-1980 and really only got around on a 10 Speed Bike. Often leaving the Base and riding into the countryside. Hitching a ride when some people would take me further.
So when I read this book, it was intriguing to learn more about what was still going on the first and second time I was in Turkey. Especially the Driving Rules of Turkey.
Also being stationed in Izmir for 6 months and getting down to Ephesus and House of the Vigin Mary by Turkish buslines ... interesting !!!
In 1986, I got orders for Incirlik AB, again. Only this time, I bought a CJ-7 jeep, 20 days before I shipped out. Cause I knew, Turkish roads had potholes, that could swallow up a VW bug, easily. My CJ-7 jeep arrived in Turkey with 1409 miles on the odometer. About 18 months later on a 27 month tour, the Jeep had over 36,000 miles on it.
Returning to Ephesus, by Jeep and back to Incirlik on a three week journey. Discoverying that the Houses had been uncovered and other things, too.
The Officers House Wives, asked me to revise a book, "Castles, Cay and Caravanserai" which was first written in 1976, revised in 1961 and my revised in 1986, just to get the Americans off the base and look at the history around them. But most Americans who brought cars there, only stayed on base until it was time to ship out their cars or sell them to someone else.
By the time my Jeep got shipped out, it had over 48,000 miles on it.
Was there nothing to do in Turkey? You be the judge.
But Scotch and Holy Water was a major part of my decision to return to Turkey with something better than a 10 speed bike, just to get around in and enjoy what John D described in his Scotch and Holy Water book.
I understand John D was producing his second addition to Scotch and Holy Water book, when he suddenly died ... Even tho, that second book may not be finished, I'd like to see it published, because it is valuable information lost.

Tracy A. Seiden's Stardust and Fire: Tales of a Hopeful Romantic comprises a collection of seventy-one poems about the many varying aspects of heterosexual love, passion, desire, attraction and romance. The first of the short pieces, "Childhood Forever," comes close to conventional rhyming poetry, but it is the only one that does. It serves almost as an introduction to the rest, which encompass the thoughts, dreams and longings of women of any age. These are all free verse: some divided into sections and others that Ms. Seiden simply allows to flow.

Stardust and Fire: Tales of a Hopeful Romantic is a title that captured my imagination before I opened the book and read a single word. Tracy A. Seiden held my attention; every poem led me on to the next. "Dance" is so incredibly expressive it truly does dance, as do all the pieces involving dancing. In Divine Love, the woman encourages her man to be protective, and "fuels him to be the man he was meant to be." "Peace of the Soul" echoes that theme. "Stardust" is thirty-eight flowing words, clever and utterly different. "Fire," the other title word, is best expressed in "Warrior on Fire." There is eroticism too in "Heaven's Door," "Black Magic Symphony," and "Did He Feel It."

The surprise was "Dark Wings Broken." My personal favorite is "Don't," a clever contradiction, or is it "A Winter's Queen," or "Reflections" and "life is a cycle, never ending"? The contention for a favorite is powerful in Stardust and Fire, and Ms. Seiden expresses herself as a "hopeful romantic" in every poem.

About the Author
I grew up an only child in the suburbs of the Midwest wandering through the woods letting my imagination build a fantasy world of grand adventures.  I was an avid reader, often finding myself lost in the pages of some book, strolling through the halls of the author's imagination, wondering if I could write that way someday.I grew up reading poetry and always had a fondness of the outdoors, romance, and a wonder of finding a deeper connection between people.  In high school, English was my favorite subject.The years advanced and I found myself in a career, having fallen away from my reading and the thought of writing until I began soul searching, once again happening upon my love of words, of weaving an escape, a world in which I could write a romantic thought or story about how nature moved me.  So it is that this collection of words finds its way to you.  It has been a dream of mine to write and I am grateful for this chance to share it with you.

A heavenly collection

Tracy Seiden's first book Stardust and Fire is a glorious cornucopia of poetry which will enchant and delight. Tracy has a certain esoteric expertise that just weaves the most beautiful stories, making use of both childhood and old-age themes and ideas. Also many of the pieces serve as analogies of important life events. This book is kinetic from start to finish, breathing new life into the reader. It would make a wonderful gift for a friend or a loved one. I am most delighted to add it to my poetry collection and strongly recommend that you do too.

Tracy has a way about her all her own and each of the poems are inspiring and moving. .I can feel her passion in the text and am honored to have this book in my collection. I read a lot of poetry and this is a unique collection and incredible work. If you are willing to be moved in all aspects, this book is for you.

Igor Milovanovic is an experienced developer, with strong background in Linux system knowledge and software engineering education, he is skilled in building scalable data-driven distributed software rich systems. Evangelist for high-quality systems design who holds strong interests in software architecture and development methodologies, Igor is always persistent on advocating methodologies which promote high-quality software, such as test-driven development, one-step builds and continuous integration. He also possesses solid knowledge of product development. Having field experience and official training, he is capable of transferring knowledge and communication flow from business to developers and vice versa. Igor is most grateful to his girlfriend for letting him spent hours on the work instead with her and being avid listener to his endless book monologues. Dimitry Foures

Dimitry Foures is a data scientist with a background in applied mathematics and theoretical physics. After completing his undergraduate studies in physics at ENS Lyon (France), he studied fluid mechanics at Ecole Polytechnique in Paris where he obtained a first class master's. He holds a PhD in applied mathematics from the University of Cambridge. He currently works as a data scientist for a smart-energy startup in Cambridge, in close collaboration with the university.

Giuseppe Vettigli

Giuseppe Vettigli is a data scientist who has worked in the research industry and academia for many years. His work is focused on the development of machine learning models and applications to use information from structured and unstructured data. A good guide to get the basics right in visualisation in Python

What I liked about this book was that it gives clear and short examples of various visualization techniques in Python. It dives right in without much fluff, while it is still easy to follow.

A strong point is the second chapter which shows how to import and prepare various types of input data.

The book focusses mostly on statistical type visuals such as bars and histograms. I expected the book to cover a larger number of visuals and go beyond the basic statistical visuals. For example, I hoped it would also discuss heatmaps, network graphs, treemaps and starplots.

The book discusses a number of Python frameworks, but could have included some more for example Bokeh or Python-Igraph.

What it discusses, it discusses well. Therefore I give it four stars.

This is a great book!

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my review. I think this is a great book. The examples for the different plotting methods and customizations all worked. The first chapter describe set-up and code samples for using data in different formats. I remember when I was first given the task to add a chart to a report to represent data and how it took me a minute to ensure I was doing things correctly. This book would helped me a great deal at that time. Many questions I had previously about plotting and correctly coding solutions for charts I haven't been asked to make yet, were answered. I have been creating reports and charts for a University Research team and this book has been a godsend. I think this book would have helped me when I was working using java for reports and charts. I just this is a great book.

Too hard!!

The mysteries are cool. ( This is why I gave it 2 stars.) There are ten of them in the book. When you are done reading the mysteries they ask you how Encyclopedia Brown figured it out. You can never figure them out. They don't give you enough info. This makes it not very fun! Don't try the other books. They all have the same problem. Just don't waste your money. ( I gave the one star for trying.)
